Abstract

This study experimentally analyzed the damage patterns of glass subjected to low-velocity oblique impact loads. Glass damage patterns were observed when 5 mm thick low-E glass was impacted by an 8 mm steel ball at a speed of approximately 50 m/s at various angles ranging from 0° to 80°. The experimental results showed that the size and aspect ratio of cone cracks and perforated holes varied depending on the impact angle. Cone cracks were most significant at 0° and 15° impacts and tended to decrease as the angle increased. Conversely, perforated holes exhibited the most extensive damage at 30° and 45° impacts. The aspect ratio of cone damage was not significantly affected by the angle change, but the aspect ratio of perforated holes increased up to 60° and then decreased sharply at 80°.

본 연구는 저속 입사 충돌하중에 의한 유리의 손상 패턴을 실험적으로 분석하였다. 5 mm 두께의 로이판유리를 대상으로 8 mm 강구를 약 50 m/s의 속도로 0°에서 80°까지 다양한 각도로 충돌시켜 발생하는 유리의 파손 형태를 관찰하였다. 실험 결과, 충돌 각도에 따라 원형 손상과 천공의 크기 및 형상비가 다르게 나타났다. 원형 손상은 0°와 15° 충돌에서 가장 크게 발생했으며, 각도가 증가할수록 감소하는 경향을 보였다. 반면 천공은 30°와 45° 충돌에서 가장 큰 손상을 보였다. 원형 손상의 형상비는 각도 변화에 큰 영향을 받지 않았으나, 천공의 형상비는 60°까지 증가하다가 80°에서 급격히 감소했다.
